Passionate!
Well, that's what a lot of folks feel about really good chocolate! It's true, the Gallery is featuring delicious, exquisitely prepared and presented chocolates, including Truffles and much, much more.
To bring it all together, we have selected local wines to complement the spirit of Saint Valentine and the chocolates. When you add a bit of really good wine, the possibilities expand dramatically.
This month we are selecting wine with a bit of price consciousness. There are wines in the $8.00 per bottle range, up to about $18.00 per bottle.
Reds:
- Sadie Red from Jacob Williams Winery. This is a robust and very versatile blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc.
- Syrah from Canyon's Edge Winery. Syrah from Heaven Hills is always rich, complex and aromatic. Sounds like an exciting Valentine's Day companion!
- Merlot from Jacob Williams Winery . Structure, a touch of Tannins to hold your interest and that characteristic Merlot soft, aromatic fruit throughout. No ho-hum red!
Whites:
- Confluence from McKinley Springs Winery. the looking-forward-to Spring aromas and style of Chenin Blanc provide a backdrop for the energy and flamboyance of Viognier. Off-dry, it complements the fire of spicy Asian cuisine.
- Five Sisters Rosé from Canyon's Edge Winery. Speaking of Spring, Rose with its spring-time fruit aromas and flavors adds a lighter, upbeat note to the fun of entertaining good friends at home.
- Muscat Canelli from Maryhill Winery. Dessert, cleverly disguised as a white wine in a cobalt blue bottle. You don't need anything to go with this one but if you insist, try it with summer blackberries, a big bowl of Häagen-Dazs Vanilla or a great big cookie!
Much more later but we wanted to let you all know what's happening!
