Artist statement:
About 20 years ago I visited with a friend who happened to own a bead
store. Later I was sorting through some of my own treasures including
seashell, rocks and neat things and was inspired to start my new hobby,
beading. It has become my passion and is a very large part of my life. I
have taught many people to bead, both young and old, and was a featured
artist at the Oregon State Fair. The people I worked with always
expressed a desire to purchase what I created either for gifts or for
themselves so I decided to start selling some of my beadwork. As they
say "the rest is history".
Using various sizes and shapes of beads, gems and shells, I create many
forms of beautifully unique pins, necklaces, bracelets and earrings. I
try to incorporate the colors mother nature puts together into my work.
As one little girl put it, "Grandma, that bracelet looks like the 4th of
July sky at night."
Since my retirement I am able to devote more time and energy into the
art form I love. I am truly addicted to beadwork.
